Reliable Moments of Joy • No. 1
9 x 12 in
mixed media on paper
No. 1 in a series of 9 • I went through a rough patch before the pandemic, and then quarantine happened and one might say it’s been rocky ever since. Something that got me through and have continued to hold on to, is the concept of having reliable moments of joy. These are the things you can look forward to, moments in which you can take a breath. I scheduled dinner with myself and would eat my favorite meal at the same place every Thursday. When indoor dining was closed, that turned into take-out. Every week. This routine was a reliable bright spot, something I could count on, and something I did for myself. Small moments of reprieve from the crushing weight of existence. I get that same feeling from each of the 9 pieces in this series, and hope you too, find a little ease.
